Fisheries Legislation

Fishing in the waters around South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands is regulated by the Fisheries (Conservation and Management) Ordinance 2000 and secondary legislation. In summary, a licence from the government is required to fish in the territorial waters and maritime zone around South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands. Fishing with out a licence or in breach of license conditions are criminal offences that carry significant fines.
